King's Cross
by Sophie Proud
Hey you, in the darkness, on your own,
Silence closing on your lashes,
Will you hear me?
Am I echo of a thought? Am I wave before it crashes?
Am I free to cut your strings? Am I God to know they’re there?
Are you leopard in the wild, crawling blindly like a child
With its hands heavy with touch?
Are you frost coming in spring?
Am I pawn or am I King?
Hold my hand and pass some warmth
From your ash bones to my glass shards.
Honey pie, I knew you once.
Now your skin’s a cavern. Like my King... Come closer, please.
I promised once to eat your eyes.
